CJ Turner's Sesquicentenary
On the 14th November 2009 the sesquicentary of the birth of CJ Turner was celebrated at Berowra. The event was inaugurated by John Chappell which brought together the present Turner clan’s direct descendants of CJ Turner.
The celebration took place at the Berowra Village Tavern. This was the approximate site of CJ Turner’s original 3 acre property purchased on the 3rd March 1902, and where he later built his home ‘Wharepaka’.
Many thanks to John Chappell for his wonderful commitment in making this event possible. Through John’s efforts, the Berowra Historic Society’s own project “Berowra’s Living History” was held at the same venue from the 12th November 2009 and comprised a host of information about Berowra’s pioneering families.
The celebration cake was cut by Audrey Wotherspoon, the eldest surviving grandchild of CJ Turner. It was a great event and brought together many family members, some of which having never previously met.
